The Decaf Setting
Three brew settings is normal. Making one of them decaf is not, and it is worth explaining because it sounds like a gimmick and is not.
Decaffeinated beans behave differently in the brewer. The decaffeination process changes the cell structure of the bean, which makes the grounds more brittle and more soluble, so they give up their flavour compounds faster and can over extract on a standard cycle. The result is the thin, papery cup that gives decaf its reputation. A dedicated decaf setting adjusts the flow so the contact time suits a bean that extracts quickly. Whether this implementation is well judged cannot be established from a listing, but the reason for the button is real.
Strong Brew works the opposite way, slowing the cycle to extend contact time. On a machine with no pump that is the only strength mechanism available.
Two Specification Errors
The specification table lists “Coffee Maker Type = Percolator”. It is not a percolator. A percolator cycles boiling water repeatedly up a tube and back through the grounds, which is a different machine entirely and produces a very different cup; if that is what you want, it is a separate category. This is a gravity drip brewer with a glass carafe and a warming plate.
The same table lists “Number of Items = 5”. One coffee maker ships, not five. Neither error changes what the machine does, and both are worth naming because a buyer comparing specification tables side by side could easily be misled by the first one.
Delay Brew and the Four Hour Shutoff
Delay Brew sets the machine to start ahead of time. The automatic shutoff runs at four hours, which is longer than the two hours most competitors use.
Four hours is a long time to hold coffee on a plate and the flavour will not survive it. A warming plate keeps extracting and evaporating whatever sits above it, and by the ninety minute mark a pot has flattened out. The shutoff is a safety feature rather than a quality one. If you drink a pot slowly, decant it or buy a thermal carafe machine; no glass and plate machine at any price solves this.
Grab-a-Cup Auto Pause holds the flow when the carafe is lifted mid cycle. The Lift and Clean basket comes out as a unit for washing, and the listing states that parts are dishwasher safe.
The Cleaning Setting
There is a dedicated cleaning function, which runs a cycle designed to flush the flow path. That is not the same as descaling: it will not remove established scale, and you still need a descaling agent on a schedule set by your water hardness. What it does is prompt and structure the job, which on a machine with no descale indicator is worth having.

The Handedness Complaint
The most specific criticism in the published feedback is one most reviews never mention. A two star review states that the coffee maker works well and brews quickly, and that the owner despises using it because it is a right handed machine that irritates them every morning.
That is a legitimate ergonomic point rather than a complaint about quality. On a drip machine the lid hinge, the water window, the carafe handle orientation and the control panel all assume a dominant hand and a direction of approach. Nothing in any specification sheet addresses it, and a left handed buyer effectively has to look at photographs and work it out. It is worth doing before ordering, because it is the sort of thing that never stops being annoying.
What the Specifications Do Not Settle
No wattage is published. No brew temperature is published. No brew time is published. The carafe volume in ounces is not stated, only the twelve cup rating, which at the standard five ounce cup implies around 60 ounces. Whether a permanent filter ships is ambiguous: the filter type field says reusable while the included components field says only “Filter”. There is no warranty term in the table. There is no small batch or one to four cup setting listed anywhere, so brewing a partial pot will give a weaker cup with no way to compensate except grinding finer.
The machine measures 8 inches deep by 10 inches wide by 14 inches high and weighs 5.74 pounds, which is unremarkable for the class and low enough to clear most wall cabinets.
What the early owner reports do say is consistent. One buyer upgrading from an older Mr. Coffee states the first pot tasted better than their previous machine, that it brews faster and that it looks better, and another describes it as a good basic machine with no surprises. Neither is a detailed technical account, and with a sample this small that is all the published feedback supports. The underlying platform is not unproven, since Mr. Coffee has built twelve cup machines with delay brew and a lift out basket for decades, but this particular model has not been in the market long enough for durability reports to exist.
Who It Suits
This suits somebody who drinks decaf regularly, or drinks a mix of decaf and regular in the same household, and wants a plain twelve cup machine with a timer to handle both properly. The decaf setting is the reason to choose it over the rest of the range.
Look elsewhere if you want a large body of owner feedback before committing, because 14 ratings tells you nothing about reliability.
