Beside them sits an independent hot water system with its own dispenser, a fold away milk frother and a 60 ounce water reservoir that can be mounted on the side or the back of the machine depending on the space you have.
That breadth is the whole proposition and it is why this sits in the coffee maker category and in the single serve brewer category at the same time. The obvious cross shop is the Keurig K-Duo Plus, which pairs pods with a carafe but does not add frothing or a hot water tap.
Brew Sizes and a Count That Does Not Add Up
Ninja advertises thirteen brew sizes, split into three groups. There are four carafe sizes covering a quarter, a half, three quarters and a full pot. There are four pod sizes running from 6 to 12 ounces. And there are five grounds brew sizes, of which the listing names only four: small cup, extra large cup, travel mug and extra large travel mug.
Four plus four plus five does come to thirteen, so the total is right and one grounds size has simply gone missing from the list. Most likely it is a standard cup sitting between the small and extra large options, but the listing does not say and that is a gap in a specification the marketing leads with. What is clear is that grounds brewing covers everything from one mug to a full carafe without changing anything but a dial setting, which is the genuinely useful part.
Brew Styles and the Specialty Concentrate
Four brew styles are offered: Classic, Rich, Over Ice and Specialty. Classic and Rich are the familiar regular and bold pairing, changing contact time. Over Ice brews stronger and hotter so the coffee survives being poured onto ice without turning to water, which is the correct way to make iced coffee on a drip machine and a feature most brewers omit.
Specialty is the one that needs explaining. It brews a small volume of very concentrated coffee intended as the base for a latte or a cappuccino. It is not espresso. There is no pump and no pressure involved, so there is no crema and the extraction is different in kind, not just in degree. The concentrate makes a milk drink that works, and calling it espresso would be wrong. If actual espresso is what you want, the espresso machine category is the place to look.
The Frother and the Hot Water System
The frother folds away into the body and comes out for cleaning. Ninja states it handles hot or cold milk and milk alternatives. A built in frother on a drip machine is unusual and it is what turns the Specialty concentrate into something worth having, since a concentrate with no way to texture milk is just strong coffee.
The independent hot water system is the feature most likely to be overlooked and the one that changes daily use most. It is plumbed separately from the coffee path specifically to avoid cross contamination, so tea does not taste of yesterday’s coffee, and it offers two temperature settings described as hot and boil. That makes the machine useful for tea, oatmeal and cocoa without a kettle on the counter, which is a real space saving in a small kitchen.
Water Reservoir and Footprint
The reservoir holds 60 ounces and can be positioned on the side or the rear of the machine. That is a thoughtful piece of design: a rear mounted tank is impossible to fill under a wall cabinet, while a side mounted one needs clearance beside the machine, and letting the owner choose means the machine adapts to the kitchen rather than the other way around. The tank is removable for filling at the tap.
The dimensions are 9.13 inches deep by 11.39 inches wide by 15.54 inches high and the weight is 9.69 pounds. At more than fifteen inches tall this will not go under a standard wall cabinet, and the side mount reservoir option adds width when used. This is a large appliance and it needs an open run of counter.
Where the Record Contradicts the Machine

As set out above, this machine makes coffee concentrate rather than espresso, and the distinction matters because it determines what you can expect in the cup. The brand is Ninja and the Manufacturer field correctly records SharkNinja, which is the parent company, so that pair is accurate rather than contradictory. The model number CFP301 is consistent throughout.
What the Specifications Do Not Settle
There is no brew temperature for any of the four styles, no wattage and no brew time. The comparative speed claim, that a pod brews faster than a leading competitor from startup, names no competitor, no time and no test conditions, so it cannot be evaluated. The fifth grounds brew size is unnamed. The two hot water settings are labelled hot and boil without either being given in degrees.
Nothing states whether the pod adapter accepts refillable pods as well as sealed K-Cups, which matters for running costs. There is no statement about descaling frequency, no clean indicator described, and no note of what the auto clean function listed in the attributes actually does. Given the number of separate water paths in this machine, descaling guidance is a significant omission.
Who It Suits
This suits a household where different people want different drinks: one person on pods, one on a carafe, someone else on tea, and occasionally a milk drink. It suits anyone replacing both a coffee maker and a kettle, and anyone who makes iced coffee often enough to want a mode built for it. The flexibility is real and it is the reason to pay the price.
Look elsewhere if only one person drinks coffee and always the same way, because you are buying five systems to use one, or if counter height is limited.
