That makes it one of the most capable machines in the coffee maker category and also one of the most complicated. Ninja’s own CFP301 DualBrew Pro takes a different route to similar breadth, trading the tea system for K-Cup pod compatibility.
Brew Sizes and Smart Basket Recognition
Six sizes are offered: single cup, extra large cup, travel size, extra large travel size, half carafe and full carafe. That range covers a single mug on a weekday and a full pot at the weekend without any change other than a menu selection, which is the practical benefit of a machine built around a thermal carafe rather than a fixed pot.
The Smart Basket Recognition is the more interesting feature. The system detects whether the coffee basket or the tea basket is fitted and displays the relevant options automatically. On a machine with five coffee styles and five tea settings, halving the menu depending on what is physically installed is a genuine usability decision rather than a specification bullet, and it is the kind of thing that stops a complex machine becoming annoying.
Five Brew Styles, and What Cold Brew Means Here
The five styles are Classic, Rich, Over Ice, Cold Brew and Specialty. Classic and Rich are the familiar regular and bold pairing. Over Ice brews stronger and hotter so the coffee survives contact with ice. Specialty produces a small volume of concentrate for milk drinks, which is not espresso: there is no pump and no pressure, so there is no crema and the extraction is different in kind.
Cold Brew needs the most explanation and the listing gives the least. Ninja states it brews tea or coffee at a lower temperature over ice for a smooth, naturally sweet flavour in 10 to 15 minutes. Traditional cold brew steeps grounds in cold water for twelve to twenty four hours, and that long steep is what produces the low acidity people buy cold brew for. A 15 minute cycle at a reduced temperature is a different process with a different result. It is faster and it is smoother than hot brewed coffee poured over ice, and it is not the same drink as an overnight steep. If that is what you want, the dedicated steeping vessels in the cold brew category do it properly for a fraction of the price.
Tea, and Why the Separate Basket Matters
The machine takes loose or bagged tea in its own basket, and selecting a tea type sets the temperature and the number of steps for that type. Tea brewed too hot is the most common domestic mistake, particularly with green and white teas, so a machine that adjusts by type is doing something a kettle does not.
The separate basket is not a convenience feature, it is the reason the tea is drinkable. Brewing tea through a basket that has held coffee gives you tea that tastes of coffee, and no amount of rinsing fixes it because the oils sit in the plastic. Two baskets and two permanent filters, both included, solve that properly.
The Thermal Carafe and Cleaning
The carafe holds 50 ounces, described as ten cups, and is double walled to hold temperature for up to two hours with no warming plate required. Removing the plate is the right call on a machine that also brews cold, since a hot plate would be useless for half of what this appliance does.
The cleaning specification is unusually detailed and worth reading before you buy. The water reservoir, frother whisk, brew through lid, both permanent filters, the removable filter holders, the flip top lid and the scoop are all stated as top rack dishwasher safe. The thermal carafe is stated as hand wash only. That is a clear and honest breakdown, and it is more than most manufacturers in this category provide.
The Frother and the Cord Length
The fold away frother handles hot or cold milk and folds into the machine when not needed. Paired with the Specialty concentrate it is what makes the milk drinks work, and the cold setting means it also froths for iced drinks rather than only hot ones.
Buried at the end of the cold brew bullet, alongside a note that the machine is BPA free, is a specification that deserves its own line: the cord is 2.5 feet long. That is short. Most kitchen appliances ship with three feet or more, and 2.5 feet means the machine has to sit close to an outlet, with no extension cord if you follow the usual advice about high draw appliances. On a machine that is 15 inches tall and needs open counter space anyway, cord length is a real placement constraint and Ninja has hidden it in a bullet about something else.

At 15 inches this will not fit under a standard wall cabinet, and the removable water reservoir needs clearance to lift out. The included components list is long and appears accurate: the brew system, the thermal carafe, both baskets, both permanent filters, the removable reservoir, a smart scoop, the fold away frother, a recipe book and the printed guides.
The attribute table is thinner than the listing. The Special Feature field says only Programmable, which does not begin to describe a machine with ten brew settings. The Specific Uses field says Cold Brew, which is one of five styles rather than the machine’s purpose. The Filter Type field says Reusable, which is correct given both baskets ship with permanent filters, and it is one of the few fields here that matches reality.
What the Specifications Do Not Settle
No brew temperature is given for any of the five styles, no wattage is stated and no brew time is given except for cold brew. The five tea settings are described as knowing the right temperature for each type without stating what those temperatures are. There is no descaling guidance, no clean indicator described, and no statement of how the machine handles the two separate water paths during cleaning.
The single cup and travel sizes are named but not given in ounces, so there is no way to know whether a travel size fits your particular mug, and no mug clearance height is stated. Nothing says whether the reservoir capacity is enough for a full carafe in one filling.
Who It Suits
This suits a household split between coffee and tea drinkers, or one person who drinks both and is tired of a kettle and a coffee maker competing for counter space. It suits anyone who wants iced coffee often, since two of the five styles are built for it. The separate baskets, the detailed dishwasher guidance and the thermal carafe are the three things that make it more than a gadget. Look elsewhere if you only drink hot black coffee, because you are paying for four systems to use one, or if your outlet is more than a couple of feet from where the machine will live.
